DSU was founded on September 19, 1911, as St. George Stake Academy. In 2013, the Utah Legislature changed the status of the institution from a college to a university and named it Dixie State University. DSU offers degrees in Health Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering and other science and technology related fields.  The university also offers an Undergraduate Research program designed to assist students in making intellectual or creative contributions to their chosen discipline.  DSU also operates a Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center which provides resources for students and community members looking to develop ideas into patents and businesses. The center is a collaboration between Dixie State’s College of Business & Communication and College of Science & Technology and supports a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship on the Dixie State campus.
