Darrin J. Young, Ph.D

Darrin Young is a USTAR associate professor in the electrical and computer engineering department at the University of Utah. Young heads the University of Utah’s Wireless Microsystem Laboratory, which focuses on developing the start-of-the-art sensors, actuators, interface and telemetry circuits, micro-power generation, and microsystem packaging technologies for wireless sensing, biomedical implant, RF communication, and industrial applications. One of Young’s most promising projects is an implantable middle-ear microphone that could restore hearing to deaf patients without the external hardware necessary for today’s cochlear implants.
